મેકરણ દાદા — બાલ ભારતી ટ્રસ્ટ

મેકરણ દાદા (સંત મેકરણ કાપડી) ૧૮મી સદીના ગુજરાતના, ખાસ કરીને કચ્છ વિસ્તારના, એક અતિ લોકપ્રિય અને પરમ પરોપકારી સંત હતા. તેમણે પોતાનું સમગ્ર જીવન કચ્છના ધગધગતા રણમાં ભૂલા પડેલા મુસાફરો, ભૂખ્યા અને તરસ્યા લોકોની સેવામાં સમર્પિત કરી દીધું હતું. તેમની સાથે હંમેશાં તેમના બે વફાદાર સાથીઓ રહેતા—'લાલીયો' ગધેડો (જે પીવાનું પાણી લાવતો) અને 'મોતીયો' કૂતરો (જે રણમાં અટવાયેલા લોકોને શોધી કાઢતો). માનવતા, ભક્તિ અને જીવદયાના ઉત્કૃષ્ટ પ્રતીક સમાન મેકરણ દાદા આજે પણ કચ્છના ખૂણે-ખૂણામાં આદરપૂર્વક પૂજાય છે. Sant Mekaran Dada (Sant Mekan Dada) was an extraordinary 18th-century saint and humanitarian revered across Gujarat, especially in the region of Kutch. He dedicated his entire life to serving lost travelers, the hungry, and the thirsty in the harsh, scorching desert of the Rann of Kutch. He was famously aided by his two loyal animal companions—'Laliyo' the donkey (who carried water) and 'Motiyo' the dog (who tracked down stranded travelers). A true symbol of selflessness, compassion, and spiritual wisdom, his legacy remains deeply embedded in Kutchi culture.
